How To Get Club Amigos Into Your School

Once you decide you want Club Amigos in your school, the following is what you'll need to know and do in order to make it happen:

  • First and foremost, it would be helpful to either call or make an appointment with Rachel, the program's director. At that time, you or the designated contact person can discuss logistics and schedules. (A school's contact person could be the principal, a secretary, a PTA member, a teacher or a parent.)

  • You will need to decide on a day, time and room in which to hold classes.

  • Club Amigos will promote the program in a manner consistent with the school's policies, e.g., sending each student a flyer/enrollment form. If the school does not allow distribution of flyers, we will find alternative methods to increase awareness.

  • Club Amigos handles all enrollment administration. Interested parents are instructed to return the enrollment form and check to the office (Club Amigos will provide an envelope for the office in which to keep the papers). Before a new session starts, Rachel will come to your school to collect all forms and checks and to send home any further information to those families who have signed up. From there, a roster is created and the program begins.

Other useful information:

  • It may help to know that Club Amigos originally started as an after-school enrichment program. Now, due to the overwhelming amount of schools wanting the program, we now offer classes before AND after school. Rachel will discuss all the options with your school's contact person, based on your students' needs and Club Amigos' availability.

  • Club Amigos takes care of all necessary paperwork with the county or district once you decide to have the program in your school (building-use fees, liability insurance, fingerprints and all other administrative requirements). Club Amigos is licensed and insured.

  • It is Club Amigos' goal to have minimal effect on faculty and staff resources. We handle all correspondence with parents and classes are run without the direct help of the school's staff.

  • Once per session, Club Amigos provides children and their families with a newsletter of all the material that has been taught that session. It's an excellent tool for reinforcement and review of the language at home, as well as our way of letting parents know what is going on in their child's Spanish class.

  • Club Amigos assumes total responsibility for keeping the room orderly after a class is held.

  • Club Amigos will issue refunds to all families if there are not enough participants to hold a class.

  • References are available upon request.

  • Since Rachel is very selective in hiring teachers (Club Amigos employs only certified, experienced teachers with Spanish-speaking abilities), there is a small staff of employees. This means availability is limited. In an effort to be fair, slots are filled on a first come, first served basis. So be sure to call soon to save a spot for your school!
